Dear Neighbor -

Thank you for the opportunity to serve you and our wonderful city of Schertz for the last six years! I am seeking a third and final term on City Council and am asking for your continued support and vote.

Since you elected me in 2018, we have endured some real challenges and learned a lot on how we were prepared to deal with them. From Covid to the snow and freeze of 2021, not too many events have had such impacts on our community. Yet we thrived because we have professionals that were prepared because our Council and Mayor support hiring, training, and equipping our people and services to be able to respond and support.

Some highlights of the last term include:

  • Reducing our City Tax Rate to 0.4872, the lowest in recent history
  • Maintain a strong financial rating to allow us to get the lowest interest rates on bonds
  • Increased our emergency services manning for Police, Fire and EMS
  • Completed a compensation review for all positions in the City and adjusted pay to retain our most precious asset - our people
  • Worked with TXDOT to continue improving our transportation infrastructure and roads
  • Updated the Universal Development Code to help streamline our process for everything from home repair permitting to development planning
  • Activated use of City View, a system that allows City Planners to process plans, permits, inspections, and events on a single platform and share internally simultaneously
  • Approved plans to build Fire Station #4, enhancing the safety of the community
  • Funded additional road and pavement maintenance throughout the city
  • Coordinated a program with Economic Development to add $5 million to Parks over the next 5 years, enhancing our already robust Parks and Trails

Experience

  • City Council 2018-Present
  • Director, Schertz Seguin Local Government Corporation - our water source
  • Local business owner for 22 years
  • Retired USAF CMSgt

What Tim believes:

Tim believes in the high standards that Schertz has stood for over the years. A good balance of Essential Services (Police, Fire, EMS, Public Works, etc.), Economic Engine (Commerce, new business, retention of current business) and Quality of Life (Parks and recreation, quality events such as Jubilee and Holidazzle, library services, etc.).

Our city has earned a reputation of quality and our staff needs to be hired, trained and retained to support that quality. Our elected leaders need to be transparent and supportive of our citizens, who are the reason we are here to begin with! Balancing our ES/EE/QL without exceeding our income is a difficult, but doable task. When we attract new business, our revenues will increase, but so will our costs, so we must be careful not to spend on future earnings. Fiscal conservation is essential to a healthy City budget and we need to work on this constantly to maintain our standards.
